The Chemical Operator is responsible for setting up and completingchemical transfers, packaging, blends, and reaction operations per establishedprocedures and guidelines. This position controls and adjusts equipment, handles material movement, and ensures production activities are completedaccurately, safely, and in a timely manner.
The role includes monitoring process conditions, performing qualitycontrol checks, handling hazardous materials in accordance with SDSinformation, and maintaining proper documentation. The Chemical Operator alsoprovides operational feedback and performs basic troubleshooting on productionequipment.
Packaging Operations
· Fillcontainers (drums, totes, bulk vessels) with liquid products according tospecifications.
· Applylabels and placards and verify work orders and lot numbers.
· Ensurepackaging follows quality and operational guidelines.
Material Handling & Transfer
· Loadand unload material containers including tank trucks, railcars, totes, anddrums.
· Managetransfer lines, hose connections, and valve configurations.
· Operateforklifts and other equipment to transport, weigh, arrange, and storematerials.
· Ensureproper handling, labeling, and verification of materials, including review ofdocumentation (e.g., batch tickets, BOL, COA).
Chemical Processing & Execution
· Processchemical transfers, packaging, blends, and reaction using establishedprocedures and batch instructions.
· Monitortemperature, pressure, and other process variables using appropriateinstruments.
· Ensureproper equipment setup, line-ups, and operation without internal or externalleaks.
· Cleanand prepare equipment for subsequent production or maintenance activities.
· Controland adjust equipment settings (valves, pumps, gauges, meters) to maintainspecified conditions.
Quality Control Sampling
· Drawsamples of products at specified stages so that analyses can be performed.
· Performbasic laboratory tests, including viscosity, Karl Fisher, pH, TAV, alkalinity, and others as requested.
Follow Safety Guidelines
· Observeall company & safety policies and procedures. Participate in plant safetyprocesses and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
· Maintainfamiliarity with safe handling, environmental regulations, and emergencyresponse for all materials in your area.
· Performroutine plant observations to report and correct, if possible, any abnormalsituations.
· Remaincurrent on the requirements of the QMS and ensure that your actions support theSharp quality policy towards continual improvement.
Data Recording Accuracy
· Trackand record process information and production data.
· Monitorscales, recording instruments, meters, or products to maintain specifiedconditions.
· Completeand maintain all required training and certification with a score of 80 orabove.
General Responsibilities
· Maintainhousekeeping and cleanliness of work areas to ensure a safe environment.
· Supportcontinuous improvement and quality management systems (QMS).
· Completerequired training and maintain certifications.
Physical Requirements
· Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
· Visual: The work requires visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
· Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
· Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
· Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
· Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position.
· Repetitive Motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
· Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
· Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
· Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Working Environment
· The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
· The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
· The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
· The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
· The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
· The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
· The worker is exposed to infectious diseases.
